Mayan Cacao

Sale price$ 390.00 MXN

Five thousand years of wisdom. One cup.

Long before coffee, before chocolate as we know it, there was cacao, the sacred drink of the Maya. Used in ceremonies of connection, transformation and gratitude, cacao was more than nourishment. It was medicine for the body and the spirit.

Our Mayan Cacao is made in collaboration with Eduardo Nava, who works with Criollo cacao from Teapa, Tabasco, one of the oldest cacao regions in Mexico.

Criollo is widely held to be one of the finest cacaos in Mexico, and one of the rarest. The tree is fragile and low yielding, which is why so few growers still plant it. What it gives in return is a cup with very low acidity, almost no bitterness, and a bright citrus note running underneath. The trees grow under a shade canopy in an agroforestry system built to mimic a tropical forest, without synthetic chemicals. The soil stays put. The birds and pollinators stay where they are.

To that base we add freshly ground allspice, warm and aromatic, and a subtle kick of chile piquín for a finish that opens the chest and warms the whole body.

No sugar. No fillers. Just cacao the way it was meant to be.

Beyond the ritual, cacao carries natural antioxidants and theobromine, the compound behind its gentle lift. A grounding morning cup, a mid-afternoon reset, or a post-workout restore. It works for all of them.

Enjoy hot for warmth and depth, or cold for a refreshing lift.

Ingredients: Cacao, chile piquín, pimienta gorda (allspice).

Crafted in Mexico. Inspired by five millennia of tradition.
