Petit Joys x The Picnic Company collaboration — Puerto Vallarta
Brand Story

Two Names, One Mission: Petit Joys Joins Forces with The Picnic Company

Some collaborations make sense on paper. This one made sense before we even sat down.

Marc Maass — The Picnic Company

The Picnic Company has been doing something quietly extraordinary in Puerto Vallarta since 2017. Marc Maass, originally from Berlin, arrived in Mexico after what he describes as a deeply spiritual moment in a monastery, one that shifted his direction entirely. He came here to touch people’s hearts. That was the plan, and eight years later, the results are hard to argue with: over 275 five-star reviews on Google, a string of press features from local television to international media, and a reputation as the pioneers of luxury picnics in the region. They’ve been featured on House Hunters International, covered by TV Mar and Radio Asphalt, and recognized by outlets across Mexico. They give back too, supporting the Association for Children with Cancer since 2021, and expanding their work to women’s and children’s shelters in 2023.

That is the company we are now working with.

What The Picnic Company creates goes far beyond a picnic. Their setups — whether a romantic proposal on a private beach, a boho celebration in Sayulita, a private cinema under the stars, or an anniversary dinner styled to the last detail — are experiences designed around a single idea: that the moments that matter deserve to be beautiful. Every permit, every arrangement, every staff member, every element on the table is chosen deliberately. The difference between a nice afternoon and a memory you carry for decades lives in exactly that kind of care.

The Same Philosophy, Different Angles

That philosophy felt familiar to us.

At Petit Joys, we work with Mexican artisans because we believe the objects around a moment shape it. A coffee made from beans grown in the highlands of Jalisco tastes differently when you know the story behind it. A body oil made with ingredients from the coast feels like more than skincare when it’s placed thoughtfully in your hands. We have always believed that the gift is part of the experience, not a footnote to it.

When Marc and I started talking, we found that we were describing the same thing from different angles. He builds the scene. We fill in the details that stay with people after the scene is over.

What We Are Building Together

We are now collaborating with The Picnic Company to bring Petit Joys into select experiences they offer, including their celebrated proposal packages. The bags we put together follow a simple logic: something for the moment, something for after, and something to carry home.

Petit Joys gift bag

The Fuego & Miel bag pairs our raw artisan honey and salsa macha with a charcuterie board, adding depth and a bit of fire to what’s already on the blanket. The body butter doubles as an aftersun ritual, something rich and nourishing to reach for once the afternoon starts to cool. Other bags include our Mayan ceremonial cacao, a take-home that comes with a story rooted in tradition, or our pillow mist, which becomes a nightly ritual after the proposal, a scent that keeps pulling people back to the evening it all changed. For couples who want something built entirely around them, we offer a questionnaire path where we decode their answers and assemble a bag that matches who they actually are. The gift stays a surprise. The couple feels genuinely seen.

The idea across all of it is the same: the picnic is the setting, but the memory lives in the details that come after.

A Statement About Belonging

We think of it as extending the joy, just past the moment itself. Puerto Vallarta has always been a place that celebrates love openly and without reservation. It is one of the reasons both of us chose to build something here. Working alongside The Picnic Company on experiences that honor every kind of love is not just a good business decision. It is a statement about what we both believe belonging looks like.

If you are planning a proposal, a celebration, a milestone, or simply an afternoon worth remembering, we encourage you to look at what The Picnic Company offers. Few people in this city understand the art of the moment the way they do. We are proud to be part of what they are building.

There will be more to come in this partnership.
